THE STORY

Michael or DJ SotiPop was born in the country of Panama and raised in Washington State. 

Influenced by joining band in public school, playing percussion, and later taking drum lessons while growing up, a deeper appreciation of music was instilled through the practice of percussion. 

DJ SotiPop’s biggest influence towards house music came when he attended a two-day music festival in San Diego, California, with who would later become his wife and manager, Shea, as he broke out from bedroom DJ’ing to DJ’ing for friends and later on playing at local businesses with community coordination. 

After both Shea and Michael moved to North Carolina from the West Coast, they quickly realized they missed the plethora of opportunities to attend music festivals and the cuisine of the West Coast. 

While on vacation, Michael ordered all his DJ equipment to the apartment and would continue to play and learn at home for closer to six months before landing actual gigs in a very community and organically driven way.
